A classically-trained prof of music at the University of Western Sydney, Michael Atherton is best known for his heavily-textural compositions. While his debut album, "Windshift", released in 1994 featured the atmospherical sounds of his pan pipes and pan flute, his almost ambitious undertaking was an prolonged piece based on the antediluvian euphony of Egypt that he composed for a National Museum exhbition in 1998.
